Why Become A United Methodist?

The United Methodist Church is global church of some 12 million people that opens hearts, opens doors and opens minds through active engagement with our world.

Established as a denomination in 1968, the UMC is rooted in the original Methodist movement planted in America in the 1700s. John Wesley and the early Methodists placed their highest emphasis on Christian living and putting faith and love into action. What Wesley referred to as “practical divinity” endures as a hallmark of United Methodism today.

We invite you to learn more about our worldwide denomination and our rich theological heritage.
